What the app stores on your phone

In the app’s private storage on the device, and nowhere else:

• Your tasks: title, day, start time, length, repeat, reminder, colour, icon, subtasks, notes and when each was done.
• Your habits: name, goal, repeat days, reminder times, tone, colour, icon, and how many times you logged each on each day.
• Your settings: wake-up and bedtime, theme, time format, week start, reminder choices and the other switches in Settings.
• A little bookkeeping: which reminders have already been shown, pending snoozes, how many tasks since the last ad and when it was shown.

Backups

A backup is made on the phone only when you ask for one. Copy a backup puts it on your clipboard; Share backup file hands a file to the app or place you choose. From then on it is outside Daily Planner, and it contains your tasks, habits and notes, so keep it somewhere private. Restore from backup reads a file you pick and replaces what is on the phone. The app needs no storage permission for either.

Reminders and permissions

Every reminder is a local notification scheduled on your phone. No server of ours sends notifications, and none of your tasks leave the device to do it.

• Notifications — for task reminders, habit reminders, the morning briefing and the evening review. Asked for when you set up your day, never at launch.
• Alarms & reminders (Android) — optional, so reminders arrive at the exact minute. You switch it on in the system settings; without it reminders may come a few minutes late.
• Start after a restart (Android) — so scheduled reminders survive a reboot.
• Vibration — for the reminder vibration and gentle taps in the app.
• Tracking (iPhone) — asked once, only for advertising, described below.

Advertising

Daily Planner is free and is paid for by advertising. Ads are served by Google AdMob, which is part of Google. The app shows one short ad after every few new tasks you add — every third by default, never more often than every second, and normally a few minutes apart. There are no ads while you set up your day or while a task is running, and none inside your schedule. Whether ads appear at all, and how often, is controlled by the app’s remote settings.

To select and measure an ad, AdMob receives your device’s advertising identifier, your IP address and coarse information about the device and app — for example the model, the operating system version and the app version — along with whether an ad was shown, viewed or tapped. Ads are limited to general-audience content. Google acts as an independent controller of that information under its own privacy policy, at policies.google.com/privacy. Your tasks, habits and notes are never part of an ad request.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, Google’s consent form asks for your choice before any ad is requested, and no ad is requested if consent is needed and not given. You can change that choice at any time in Settings → Ad privacy options. On iPhone, the app asks once whether it may use the advertising identifier; if you decline, it is not shared.

You can reset or delete your advertising identifier, or turn off ad personalisation for every app, in your phone’s settings at any time.

How the app reports on itself

Daily Planner uses three Google Firebase services to keep the app working. None of them ever receives a task or habit name, a note, a subtask or a time you planned.

• Remote Config fetches a small settings file, so things like whether ads are on, how often they appear and the minimum supported version can be changed without publishing an update. Without a connection the app uses its built-in defaults, with ads off.
• Analytics records Firebase’s automatic events — for example that the app was opened for the first time and that it was used, and for how long — which is what tells us how many people use Daily Planner. It also records a few actions, with no content: that setup was finished, that a task was added (and whether it repeats), that a task was completed, that a habit was added (and its daily goal) or logged, that a reminder was opened, that an ad was shown or failed to load, and that a backup was made or restored.
• Crashlytics sends a report when the app crashes or hits an error: what went wrong, where in the code it happened, and the state of the device at the time.

What those reports contain

A Firebase installation identifier, your IP address, and basic information about the device and the app — the model, the operating system version, the app version, the language and the country worked out from the IP address. The identifier is specific to this installation of Daily Planner; it is not your Google or Apple account, and uninstalling the app ends it. Analytics does not collect the advertising identifier or the Android device ID, and ad personalisation signals are off in it; only AdMob, above, uses the advertising identifier.

Google processes this on our behalf as a data processor, under its own terms at firebase.google.com/terms/data-processing-terms.

What we do not do

• We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not know who you are.
• We do not upload, store or see your tasks, habits, notes or backups.
• We do not use your location, contacts, calendar, photos or microphone.
• We do not run analytics, crash reporting or advertising of our own — only the Google services described above.
• We do not sell personal information — we hold none.

Children

Daily Planner is meant for people aged 13 and over and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included.

Your choices

Decline notifications, or switch off any reminder, and nothing is scheduled. Change your ad consent in Settings → Ad privacy options where it is offered, and reset or delete your advertising identifier in your phone’s settings. Settings → Reset app erases everything the app has stored on your phone and cancels every reminder; uninstalling does the same.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the revised version will be published on this page with a new revision date. Continuing to use Daily Planner after that date means the revised policy applies.
